The ministry of Railways, led by Suresh Prabhu has been one of the most appreciated ministries in recent times. There have been many who have come out in support of the Railway Minister and have been commenting on the fine job that he has been doing. And that he indeed has.
Indian Railways has witnessed a major reform under Mr. Prabhu, and after an excellent railway budget, while most ministers would disappear until the next budget, Suresh Prabhu has taken things one step further – he has now introduced a new service, ‘clean my coach’.
Clean My Coach service comes out as a part of the ‘Swachh Rail Swachh Bharat’ campaign led by Indian Railways, and this service involves users sending an SMS message to 58888 if your coach is dirty. A Clean My Coach android app as well as a website (www.cleanmycoach.com) has also been started off, where the user will be notified with an SMS message as soon as his request is approved.
Upon receiving a user invoking this service, a message will then be sent by the server to the mobile number of the On Board House Keeping (OBHS) staff travelling on the same train along with the details of the passenger such as coach number and seat number.
Suresh Prabhu has been hailed as one of the best Rail Ministers of the country, and the man has been doing a fantastic job on social media as well. Reports about railways helping people after tweeting to @RailMinIndia have been flowing in, and the ministry has been quick in responding too. Senior citizens requesting lower seats are getting them with a greater ease than ever before.
Prabhu has also been working on a cleanliness drive in the railways, and has now been working on installing dustbins in the non-AC compartments of the train. He says the administration is as responsible as the citizens when it comes to cleanliness in the trains.
According to the rail minister, the country needs a better, cleaner railways so that it leaves an everlasting impression on the minds of the foreign travellers who travel by train. The Clean My Coach service is a major step forward towards modernization and progress for the Indian Railways. Prabhu has promised several such changes in the way the railways work over the next few years, and this is just a start.
