The Detailed Application Form for the Union Service Public Commission civil service exams has now been imposed with a final deadline, as per their declaration on the official website. The 13th of November was the last date to fill the exam forms and the same has to be duly submitted by the 20th of November.
The Union Public Service Commission shall be conducted the Mains exam on the 18th of December. The candidates who have cleared the prelim exams are eligible to apply and appear for this phase of the exam. The said prelim exam was held on the 23rd of August in seventy one centres across the nation. The results of the prelims were out on the 12th of October. The examination had been attempted by 4.5 lakh aspirants. After the mains examination, the eligible candidates will have to appear for the personal interview.
The prestigious Civil Service exam is the single most prestigious and highly coveted examination which inducts candidates for the high power posts like the Indian Administrative Services and the Indian Foreign Services. Lakhs of candidates take years off from their ordinary life and dedicate around 16 hours per day to qualify these examinations. The stress is enormous, given the highly competitive nature of the exam and the large fraction of seats are lost to vertical and horizontal reservations. There is also peer and societal pressures. The civil service examination has claimed lives of many aspirants who either could not bear the stress of preparation or the shame of working so hard and yet not qualifying.
Registered candidates can fill the form through their accounts and after filling the form, can pay the fee and then must take out a print out of the form. This form then has to be properly filed to the Under Secretary (CSM) in Delhi, before the 20th of November.
